What to expect

The main task of today's global agriculture is NOT to maximize the profits of a few large global corporations, but to feed 9 billion people with high-quality, health-promoting food. This is only possible, however, if two fundamental conditions are met:

1) Worldwide, uncompromising implementation of all previously known - and still to be discovered - ecological findings in agricultural practice.
2) Worldwide restructuring towards SMALL-SCALE FARMS. These are in fact significantly more effective than so-called "modern" agro-industrial large-scale operations.

If these two conditions cannot yet be met under existing socio-political structures, it will be better and more sustainable in the long run to develop new, ecology-compatible forms of economy rather than trying to adapt biology to an outdated way of thinking.

Rudolf Steiner's suggestions and proposals for a forward-looking agriculture, now over 100 years old, often sound quite fantastic when first read, because they still seem to be decades ahead of our time even today. However, they are repeatedly confirmed worldwide in reproducible experiments - alongside rich practical experience - and additionally by new scientific findings in the fields of biology and chemistry. My main task, then, is naturally to implement all of this uncompromisingly in daily farm work.

When choosing the appropriate technology for this, I ensure that all farm investments are sober, sensible, useful and sustainable. What the existing market does not yet offer in this direction is, if necessary, designed by myself and often built successfully at a fraction of the cost of conventional alternatives. Although I have two light but powerful tractors, for many work tasks - even purely from a technical point of view - my horse is the "better tractor".

Similar considerations naturally also apply to the household appliances of daily use. Here in the countryside I am often free enough to make daily life more sensible, more creative, more affordable, more independent - and more modern. For example, heating and cooking with wood - although it may seem romantic - is not a relic of old times, but - as recent research shows - with the most modern technology - even better, more practical, more sustainable and healthier than the corresponding electrical alternative - and also more crisis-proof.

Warm water generated with wood or solar panels, completely odor-free eco-compost toilets of the latest design, which function completely independently of water and electricity - this does not mean that I have slept through the "modern" age, but rather that I may possibly be decades ahead of it.

Of course, a solid, conventional dishwasher and washing machine, including dryer, are also part of my standard household equipment.

For hygienic needs, there is more than adequate provision with a large bathroom with bathtub and shower and an additional classic Finnish sauna (in the adjacent house) with a large cooling pond in immediate proximity.

What I do not currently grow myself - for example grain - I preferably buy from the organic wholesale market. The grain is - in line with the latest findings - consistently ground only shortly before use, such as for baking - and ground with the brilliantly simple and gentlest Zentrofan high-tech mill. This mill, the only one of its kind in all of Norway, can in a SINGLE pass from the WHOLE grain produce super-fine, but still unsifted and therefore most nutritious flour, which I then bake into the most delicious bread - or other delicacies - in my 4,500 kg heavy Finnish TULIKIVI soapstone oven, built according to traditional design.
